Guest written by Johannes Keizer, Partnerships at GODAN

The GODAN Secretariat was invited to present at the G20 meeting of Agricultural Chief Scientists on the 30-31st of May in Xi'an, China.

Many G20 countries and institutions of these countries are already partners with GODAN. After the GODAN presentation, there was a lively discussion about the new horizons that are opened by global open data, but also about the challenges ahead.

GeoGlam, a G20 initiative, partnered GODAN during the meeting. Also, it is key to note that in one of the presentations, Wayne Powell, Chief Science Officer of the CGIAR consortium, stated that society is now asking for radical transparency,

Finally, the Communique of the meeting explicitly asked for global open data in agriculture and nutrition and endorsed the GODAN initiative.
