What is a Partner?

The purpose of the GODAN partner network is to support the shared principles based on GODAN’s Statement of Purpose

  • Agricultural and nutritional data to be available, accessible, usable and unrestricted
  • Partners aim to build high level policy and private sector support for open data
  • Encourage collaboration and cooperation across existing agriculture, nutrition and open data activities and stakeholders to solve long-standing global problems

What does it mean to be a partner?

GODAN partners support based on GODAN’s Statement of Purpose. Agricultural and nutritional data should be made available, accessible, usable and unrestricted.

Partners aim to build high level policy and private sector support for open data. They also encourage collaboration and co-operation across existing agriculture, nutrition and open data activities and stakeholders to solve long-standing global problems.

Once you become a partner, what can you do to support the principles?

  • Create a partner profile and update it with your stories and open data initiatives
  • Advocate to other organisations to join GODAN
  • Join a working group
  • Initiate and coordinate a new GODAN working group
  • Share your own materials (advocacy material, published policies, etc) on your partner profile page and the Tools and Resources page
  • Organise a GODAN event in your region
  • Sponsor and lead a GODAN research paper 
  • Develop an open data policy for your organisation
  • Publish open data
  • Use available open data and share your stories on progress
  • Create data management plans
  • Donate to GODAN

What is the GODAN Secretariat?

GODAN is supported by a secretariat hosted by McGill University, Canada. Find out more about the team here.

GODAN activities and its Secretariat are financially supported by the US Government, the UK Department for International Development (DfID), the Government of the Netherlands, The Government of India, the Government of Germany, the Government of Kenya, the UN FAO, the Technical Centre for Agricultural and Rural Cooperation (CTA), GFAR, and CGIAR.
