Governance

At the GODAN Donor Meeting in January 2015, it was agreed that during the inception phase, the GODAN Secretariat would be governed by a group of partners who committed to providing funds or in-kind contributions to support the set up and on-going running of the Secretariat.

Subsequently, at the GODAN Steering Meeting held in July 2018, representatives of the donors agreed that a new Advisory Board would be established. This Council would serve two distinct roles: to provide advice to the Secretariat and Steering Committee members, and to provide support in raising new streams of funding in support of GODAN’s mission. The Council will be operational throughout 2019 and will play key advisory and fundraising roles.

Present Steering Committee

Currently, the donors who form the Steering Committee are: the US Government Department of Agriculture, the UK Department for International Development (DfID), the Government of the Netherlands, the Open Data Institute, the UN FAO, CTA, CAB International, CGIAR and GFAR. The Committee is currently chaired by the US Department of Agriculture (USDA), as elected by the other members.
