Description

Balancing the interests of all actors in the agricultural value chain is a challenge and one that GODAN, alongside partners the Kuratorium für Technik und Bauwesen in der Landwirtschaft (KTBL) and the Technical Centre for Agricultural and Rural Cooperation (CTA), are exploring in more detail. To this end, a workshop will be held at  KTBL's offices from 25-26 July in Darmstadt, Germany to explore and discuss the legal and policy aspects of open data in agriculture affecting farmers.

The Workshop is organised as part of the sub-group on agricultural codes of conduct, part of the Data Rights and Responsible Data Working Group, and will cover agricultural data policy in both developed and developing countries, examining two reports from Europe and Africa to establish similarities and differences, and shed light on the challenges. Working with the groups on agricultural codes of conduct, the event will focus on the farmers' perspective. The ultimate goal of the Workshop is to empower farmers by focusing on their unique perspectives in the data value chain, raising awareness about their rights within the chain,  promoting dialogue between agricultural stakeholders, and enhancing the role of farmers’ associations.
