Jointly organised by the Alan Turing Institute and the University of Exeter, the workshops will take place over four sessions, every Friday afternoon throughout the month of March (March 5, 12, 19 and 26), from 14h00-16h00 UTC, with a longer concluding session on March 26, from 14h00-16h15 UTC.

Although considerable progress has been made over recent years on the development of tools for agricultural data standardisation, sharing and analysis; there remain many technical, political and socioeconomic challenges to ensuring data solutions are FAIR (findeable, accessible, interoperable and resueable) and equitable.
Development of this infrastructure is critical to managing food security, as well as the complex socioeconomic and environmental challenges of the 21st Century.
The workshop series will examine the current challenges through use cases, best practices, and exploring potential future directions for the further development of reliable open data infrastructure.
The event organisers are bringing together key global initiatives (CGIAR, IITA, FAO, USDA, among others), as well as scholars of history, philosophy, social studies, and plant and agricultural science. GODAN's Foteini Zampati, Eliane Ubalijoro and Suchith Anand will be presenting a session on Ethical and Legal Considerations in Smart Farming: A Farmer’s Perspective during the March 26 Workshop.
