GODAN is very pleased to announce a new partnership with Agriculture and Agri-Food Canada. For nearly 130 years, Agriculture and Agri-Food Canada (AAFC) research has helped build a vital, innovative agriculture industry in Canada. Innovation depends on collaboration, access to knowledge and sharing useful information that can aid in the development of new technologies. The new partnership will help to strengthen GODAN's purpose to suppors global efforts to make agricultural and nutritionally relevant data publically available for use worldwide.

Open Government is an international movement to increase public access to government information and data, and supports the Government of Canada’s commitment to openness, transparency and accountability. AAFC is committed to providing access to data produced, collected and used to the Canadian public, researchers and industry communities. AAFC is already a contributor to the Government of Canada’s Open Data Portal and is developing an inventory of data sets for release. Joining GODAN will make AAFC’s data accessible to an even wider audience and help strengthen ties with key partner countries and organizations, which will ultimately benefit the Canadian agriculture sector.
