GODAN in Sierra Leone to help kick-start country's Nairobi Declaration Commitments
Global Open Data for Agriculture (GODAN) Chief Executive Andre was in Sierra Leone to help kick start the country's commitment to the Nairobi Declaration dispositions which it joined in 2017. The Nairobi Declaration is a pan-African effort involving more than 15 ministers from various countries on the continent working towards the development and implementation of a full-fledged open data policy in Agriculture and Nutrition.
The GODAN initiative focuses on building high-level support among governments, policymakers, international organizations and business. It promotes collaboration to harness the growing volume of data generated by new technologies to solve long-standing problems and to benefit farmers and the health of consumers.
Whilst in the county, Mr Laperriere also attended the Sierra Leone Diaspora Agribusiness Investor Forum to share impact of data driven agriculture from across the globe.
GODAN, along with the Global Partnership for Sustainable Development Data (GPSDD) also supported a Student Entrepreneurship Competition Hackathon in Sierra Leone.
