The Food and Agriculture Organization of the United Nations (FAO), together with the Platform for Agricultural Risk Management (PARM), a G7-G20 Initiative, hosted by the International Fund for Agriculture Development (IFAD) launched a series of e-learning courses this week on Agricultural Risk Management, building on their extensive research into the pressing issues of climate change, agriculture and nutrition security. The official launch event took place on Thursday April 4, at the FAO headquarters in Rome.

The courses were developed in close collaboration with the European Commission (EC), l'Agence Française de Développement (AFD), the Italian Directorate-General for Development Cooperation, KfW Development Bank, BMZ, and the New Partnership for Africa’s Development (NEPAD). They aim to contribute to the achievement of Sustainable Development Goals 1, 2 and 13 and FAO Strategic Objective 5, and are offered to public and policy-makers alike free of charge through the FAO e-learning Center: elearning.fao,org

The objective of these e-learning courses is to bridge the knowledge gap in production, marketing, financial, institutional and policy-related risks at the farm level, and throughout the agricultural value chain. They are targeted at national policy makers, farmer organisations and operators within agro-food value chains, aiming to transfer skills and knowledge to mitigate against Agricultural risk, using concrete tools and strategies.
