Dear Friends and Colleagues,

I hope you and your families are keeping safe and healthy.  On January 1st, I never thought I would write this email.

Undoubtedly, 2020 has been difficult in many respects. Yet, despite the challenges facing humanity, hunger and malnutrition crises remain at the top of the list of concerns in virtually every part of the globe.

While the world’s population is on the way to reach 9 billion during our generation, global warming and its damaging consequences has made it even more difficult to feed everyone, and the ongoing pandemic threatens millions of people that now need your help. Meanwhile, desperation and hardship is forcing many to cultivate, relying on non-sustainable methods that are rapidly degrading our environment – our future source of food.

Since you care about ending world hunger, I wanted to share with you some of the challenges GODAN is facing —and where we could use your help to make a difference.

In all honesty, funding for our programs has decreased as a result of the COVID-19 pandemic. Some individuals, major funders and grant-making foundations have had to withdraw their support.

Fortunately, a few generous donors have joined us, but there is still a void to be filled.  Given the state of affairs, we may be forced to restrict the scope of our work.

Against this background, we are seeking to raise $1,000,000 by December 30, 2020 to ensure the continuation of essential programs so that we can continue to help the most vulnerable populations.

I should mention that this is not charity – this is about investing in our future.

We at GODAN believe in mankind’s ingenuity, talent, desire and capacity to build a pathway to universal nutrition security – based on sustainable and environmentally sound agricultural practices – and a better life for all.

GODAN partners, working together, have changed the lives of millions across the world.  Please take a look at some of the successes achieved for, and with, the very nations that are extending their hands to you today: https://www.godan.info/sites/default/files/documents/GODAN_About_Presentation_1.pdf

We would greatly value any contribution: No amount is too big or too small.  With your help and support, we can continue to make a real difference over the next year.

Your support will allow us to:

  • Urge our governments to prioritize food security and well-being of all in the recovery of the economy;
  • Work with our partners to advocate for a fair, just and sustainable society;
  • Accelerate the use of data-driven innovations that will increase yields, improve nutrition and strengthen the food supply chain in developing countries;
  • Educate and inspire citizens to live within the limits of nature.

Your donation will allow us to remain active and ambitious in the coming year, which promises to be decisive for the environment and our future.

Together, let us find solutions to the world hunger crisis and protect biodiversity, and the people and places we love.

Thank you wholeheartedly for your support,

André Laperriere

Executive Director
