Effective Data Communication Using Data Visualisations

Data visualisation has been around since at least the 18th century, and recently the increase of a number of easy-to-use tools have made the creation of different types of data visualisations, including infographics, available to a larger segment of the population. Visualizations can help reveal important trends in agriculture and nutrition to support many objectives, including advocacy and training.

Part one of a two-part Data Visualisation Webinar series features Studio Lakmoes, a Dutch company who work to turn complex data into compelling visualisations that tell stories. The CTA also talks about how their Data4Agriculture unit is successfully using infographics in their work. The goals of the Webinar are to:

·       Provide an understanding of infographics as a form of data communication.

·       Explain the process of creating a good infographic.

·       Demonstrate some visualisation software.

·       Share ideas on how infographics are being applied for open data for agriculture and nutrition.
